Course

Building Character I & II

Description

Why do some characters grasp our attention from the outset? How does someone's appearance, thoughts, speech, home and choice of friends exemplify who they are? What motivates people? How do effective  characters drive stories?

In these writing days, we'll use observation, imagination and examples from published writers and poets to inspire you to create and introduce your own believable characters. Expect to do lots of writing!

With two hours in the morning and another two hours after lunch, there is plenty of time to develop your ideas. Gentle constructive criticism will help you to improve. The days will be progressive, with different material on day II, but it is fine to book either day on its own.
